Hello! Can you tell me what exactly the issue is? Are you saying it won't discount it because it does not have the alternate bundle in the bundle? I'm happy to try and make it work for you! Tim

That's it exactly. When a customer has the Players Handbook 7th Printing alternate cover, these bundles do not recognize the purchased Players Handbook 7th Printing with respect to the handbook. It tries to charge the players handbook again.
- Castles & Crusades 3 Sisters (Core Books) [BUNDLE]
- Castles & Crusades Starter Pack! [BUNDLE]

I have since purchased the parts of these bundles separately, but you may want to correct for your other loyal and happy customers.

From the outside it would seem normal just to provide both covers in the same product offer if the content is the same, but obviously you have legitimate business or historical reasons to do otherwise. That said, I would expect customers to be somewhat confused.

Thanks for that. I am not sure exactly how I can fix that, but will contact technical support and see what they can come up with. Glad you were able to get the other parts separately! ~ Tim

I also am having an issue with purchasing your bundles -- my 7th Printing (Alternate Cover) doesn't register with bundles.

Any chance you can combine Player's Handbook cover offers together -- if the content is the same. For example, I have the alternate cover purchased, but when I go to buy your bundles it's requiring me to buy this cover version again as if I didn't have it.

@Bruce et al: The bottom PDF is always the newest, but some people like to keep the others for comparison, etc. The last one has a couple errata corrections. Hope this helps and enjoy! Tim

After the update you now have 3 PDFs listed, two of them with the same name. What is the difference between these three?

What is the difference between the files TLG_80107_Players_Handbook_Digital_Standard.pdf and TLG_80107_Players_Handbook_Standard_Digital.pdf?

Isn't there a print on demand option? Also is there a GM's guide or just a players guide?

I have the 4th printing. Can I get the 6th printing for free?

Just wanted to chime in. I purchased the 4th printing digital edition when it came out and didn't realize I could update it for free (it isn't in the updates).

I emailed the Troll Lords and they fixed me up, sent me a link for the 6th printing.

Class act.

Thank you.

I'm not sure what Brian S is talking about. I've gotten every update for this book for free, and the 6th printing is no different. Maybe he doesn't know to look under his Account -> Updates section of this web site.

Anyway, that being said, I am a disappointed in the PDF quality for the 6th printing. The 5th printing was ~40MB and the images were all crisp with no digital smearing. The 6th printing is only ~10MB and the images have a lot of digital garbage around the edges. I do hope they'll put out a higher quality update soon.

Brian, If you did not get your update, please let me know directly at and I will get it right out to you. It should have automatically updated you but if it didn't, I'm happy to do it for you. Tim

Yeah the artwork in the current PDF is pixelated to hell. Did the Trolls even bother to look at it before uploading? Since I got the update free I don't feel completely ripped off, but those who purchase the 6th printing PDF are gonna be hurtin.

This pisses me off on so many levels. This book is what should have been the 5th printing (which was terrible and I bought). Now to get even the pdf for this they want 20 more dollars. Having bought the 4th and esp the 5th printing, this one should be no more the $10. BTW Swords and Wizardry is free.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
