"The perfect way to introduce your kids to role-playing games." - GeekDad

Kids Are Magic

The kids in our lives all dream of visiting other worlds, of being heroes in their own special Tales. Here’s their chance! Little Wizards is a storytelling roleplaying game for inventive and inquisitive kids ages 6-10, developed to introduce them to the magic of creating their own characters and stepping into a whole new world. It’s simple enough to learn in just a few minutes and engaging enough for older kids and adults to play with their little ones. Packed with advice for gaming with youngsters, this is a perfect introduction for everyone.

Originally designed for the French market as Contes Ensorcelés by Antoine Bauza (7 Wonders, Ghost Stories) and published by Le Septième Cercle (Qin, Z-Corps), this English-language edition features updated rules and game content developed by Amanda Valentine (Marvel Heroic Roleplaying, The Dresden Files RPG).

The basic and form-fillable versions of the character sheet are available at the Little Wizards Downloads page

This file is fully hyperlinked, bookmarked, and cross-referenced, and features layers you can turn off for easy printing. This file is 100% DRM-free.

An amazing piece of work. Just delighted with how the system works for our little players. Easy enough for them to have fun, us also.

Any thoughts about expansions? Mainly wondering about adventure books.

Also: I notice it's in print on Amazon and PDF through RPGNow. Any chance of a combo deal?

Bought this today (although not through DTRPG, sorry. I would have had I known it was on here!), having tried to introduce my two children to fantasy roleplaying. I used to make up stories for them on car journeys. Really fancied getting them into something a bit more structured and the are a tad too young for full blown d&d and the like.

I found this by chance today, and at 2pm ordered it. I read through the basics in the hour I waited for the to come out of school. When we got home, we went through the background, and character creation. In the 2 hours before their mother got home, we had almost finished the starter scenario. (It would have taken longer, however my son is a smartass, and fluked an important clue).

We found it very accessible, and the kids loved Coinworld, and all the little details that came with it. Ridiculously clever, and cute and simple enough for younger kids to run with. I'm very much looking forward to taking this further with them!

Little Wizards fills a void in gaming that many of us didn't even notice: the RPG for gamers to play with their kids. It's an introduction to roleplaying, sure, but it's also pretty rich on its own in terms of setting and mechanics. It's not just a diluted adult RPG, it's designed from the ground up to perform a very specific role: bringing kids onboard to role-playing (introducing core RPG concepts, allowing for age-appropriate system and content) and helping parents share their hobby with their kids. If reading to your kids encourages them to read on their own, Little Wizards seems like a perfect way to encourage them to explore RPGs. It's cute, it's stylish, it's perfectly geared for its purpose, and I am overjoyed that it exists.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
