Battle Maps: The Cave System

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This is a 1”=5' battle map of a cave system.  It could be used with any game system, though fantasy gaming systems and settings were the target.  I have intentionally left the spaces within the cave system predominately generic (meaning no Goblin Lord's throne, no rooms with chests of treasure, no skeletons of dead adventures, etc.) so that any GM's that use this can fill each room with whatever their heart desires, and to ensure that this map will be compatible with as many systems as possible.

Features:

  • 80" x 80" in size.  That's almost 7' of gaming space squared!
  • HEX and SQUARE grids for each type of map listed below.  Each one is sized to be 1" = 5' of gaming space.
  • Full Color Version – This is a printer intensive, full color version of this map.
  • Printer Friendly Full Color Version – This version reduces the load on your ink cartridges by replacing inaccessible earth areas with blank white space.
  • Black and White version – A black and white version that replaces the inaccessible earth areas with blank white space.  Meant to be the least printer intensive of all of the maps.
  • Natural looking cavern, with mossy floors, bioluminescent mushrooms (which provide the light that feeds the moss), stalagmites, and even an underground river.  There is also a bridge that crosses the river, allowing access to the other side of the map.
  • Intentionally generic so that this map is useful with multiple gaming systems and/or settings, and so that GM's can create their own stories within these caves and fill it with whatever monsters, treasure, traps, or challenges they wish.
  • Included VTT Map in .jpeg format.  This map is 2000x2000 pixels in size.  It is a square grid at 1 square = 5 feet.

PUBLISHER
Hi Paul,

That's a fair question. My plan is to turn each battle map into a VTT compatible map in the future as part of the VTT Campaign Maps Volume II. However, I will upload a 2000 x 2000 pixel VTT map of this file to be included with the battle map. If you have already purchased this map, check the download section for this file in the next 30 minutes or so and I should have it uploaded already. Hopefully that helps you out.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
