Great game. Some of the extra page off-set "Table of Contents" sections (Eg: Mass Combat) is a bit annoying though, but nothing inherently game breaking, just a minor inconvenience.

I love this game, but am having difficulty with the file. The lack of bookmarks is frustrating for use digitally. I tried to just be a good sport about it and add my own... but the PDF is locked!

Can you please update the PDF with an unlocked version for those of us who want to add the missing bookmarks manually?

As mentioned previously, it contains the players and game masters guides together. The NOD Companion is a separate book. I'm working on getting all the various products on rpgnow.com, first in e-book format, then in POD. Unfortunately, I've been fighting a flu bug the last few days and I'm busy writing new material, so I'm a bit slow at the moment.

Is there any way we can get this as a POD book through Lightning Source? Lulu does not inspire confidence that I'm going to get a quality product.

Not too sure what you describe as a 'quality' product, but just received (4 days ago) the hardback, ordered through Lulu. I'm pretty sure its been printed in the US (Lulu softcovers are printed locally to Aus). Seems solid to me (ie lays flat without spine cracking), paper has slight wrinkle to it (then so has my hardback Fate Core and thats a smaller book). Only surprise is the slightly pixelllated cover art, and a couple of blank pages at the back (presumably for page count for binding)

I got the hardcovers through Lulu, for the players book and the DM's guide, when they first were released. We've been using them fortnightly ever since (so a couple of years), and they are holding up really well, I have to say.

(Not affiliated with the author at all, but I have a copy of the book on my shelf.)

It's complete because it combines the player's and GM's books in one volume. They're available separately on Lulu.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
