You can buy a good condition used version hardcover on Amazon for less than $26. Less than the price of a PDF here. This game hardcover doesn’t sell for $59 anywhere that I’ve looked $49 on average. It’s too much $29 for the PDF.This is a great game. I’ll wait for a sale. But that $59 comparison amount doesn’t fly. Maybe on their website it does but anywhere else you can get it for at least $10 less for a hard cover. And a used version like I said is significantly less. Great product but the digital price is too high In my opinion.

I know there is a new edition coming that is D&D 5e compatible. Will Privateer Press keep this older version around? Don't need to add anything NEW to it, but keep it purchasable. We're just starting our 5th campaign, and some of our books are wearing out!

Any chance of this getting a Print On Demand option?

"This sounds like a really exciting game!" I thought to myself and went to buy it, thinking first "Aw, there's only a print version, I wanted the PDF... I guess I have to... Wait a second... That doesn't say print-on-demand...". 30 dollars for a PDF is utterly insane - Especially one several years old. 20, as several others have said, is a reasonable price, but no way am I going to pay for a system I have never tried at this price. No friggin way, man!

Looks good but to expensive. Plenty of other bigger just as beautiful books at a lower cost. Do love the setting. Need to consider you would have sold many many more copies at a reasonable price. The book is available for this price or less with a little looking and luck. Ah well Hopefully there is a sale sometime.

Paying for 20 dollars is getting too much, but paying almost 42 dollars for a pdf is madness. Congrats you just made Fantasy Flight look good and those guys charge 20 to 30 dollars for a pdf. It also makes Pazio look really good cause the worst I seen them do for pdfs in terms of price is charging 10 to 15 dollars for their pdfs. All three feature the same quality of hardcover books and pdfs so why would Privateer Press charge so much for pdfs? They are shooting themselves in the foot.

Okay finally Privateer Press wised up and reduce the price of those pdfs. Sure it is hefty $29.99, but that is more reasonable than what they were charging.

Do you look at the dates? This was 6 years ago. At that time the physical book was worth a full sixty dollars if not more.

29.99 isn't a good deal either, but back then there were other core book pdfs that cost as much. Now I agree the price should drop to ten dollars as this is basically a dead rpg.

$84 for the first two books in PDF? Really?? I'd prefer to pay $60 for the latest Glorantha offering (928 pages of loveliness) - at least I'd feel like I have a good deal.

Great to see the Core Rules can be had as pdf, but the price is simply insane and I'm not gonna pay it.

This is a very good game and would highly recommend it, even with its steep price.
however, if you want a cheaper version, you can check the privateer digital app for android or Iphone. There you can get it a bit cheaper but at the expense that you can only view it on the app as its not a typical PDF.

No, certainly not.
I love the writing in most places, even with a lot of the retconning going on, but this is not an acceptable price. Not just a bit much. Simply unacceptable. You can't honestly pretend that digital media is worth this amount of money unless you present a very convincing reason for it. Good writing, acceptable if somewhat limiting rules (and kinda-sorta compatible with Warmachines) and a bunch of new artwork (not that much though) is far from being a convincing reason to subtract about the amount from the product's physical cost that others charge for the .pdf version.

My love of the setting is not big enough to accept this kind of legal larceny or pay less for a limited version I can only use with a ported app. If someone now tells me that version of the pdf only costs 6$ or something to that amount for those devices, I withdraw my statement. But I doubt it.

I've heard good things about this game but there's no chance I'm going to pay $42 for anyone's PDF. Hopefully Privateer Press will reconsider their pricing.

I have to agree with everyone else. Ain't no way I'm dropping that much for a pdf. And here I was hoping I'd finally get into this game...,.

Defiantly don't understand the pricing on this, that is the same price as the hard cover is now if you order it from a store. I usually buy pdfs to supplement my collection so I have a copy when I lone the hard cover out to people making characters, but there is little point in a pdf when I can buy another copy of the book for the same price.

Played it at a con once. Enjoyed it, but not to the price of $40 for a pdf

Totally agree with the concerns about the price. I understand that a 350+ page game with as slick production values as Iron Kingdoms probably may need that price to cover the art and layout, but there's no way I'm paying that much for a pdf. $30 is the highest I'd pay for a pdf, and even that's pushing it. Shadowrun and Numenera are also both beautiful games, and they manage to keep their pdfs to $20!

I think they're figuring on what happened with you. In the end, you caved and purchased it. And I might also.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
