The City of Faymouth Poster Map

The City of Faymouth is built on a river delta that separates a more populated western peninsula and a less populated eastern peninsula with the Tomlyn Hills and mountains split by a smaller river in the center. There are three uninhabited islands to the west and south of Faymouth.

Topographical features include white roads and city streets on land and white bridges over the river that connect the western peninsula to the eastern peninsula and a road through the Tomlyn Hills. Beige with no raised topography represents plains and beaches. The most fertile land in the area is the farmlands north of the western part of Faymouth that includes farm fields indicated by slightly darker beige rectangles, squares, and L-shaped areas. Green areas have heavier vegetation including shrubs and trees such as the Pishmire Thicket north of the farmlands. Hilly and mountainous areas have raised ridges. Beige areas are barren mountains, with green areas having evergreens and other mountain and hill vegetation. The Tomlyn Hills are represented with thick vegetation beyond the road through the area.

City walls are represented by gray lines with brown circles in the wall indicating guard towers. The main docks are next to The Market and Barracks. Three guard towers peer out to sea to look for shipping threats such as pirates in this area. The Crescent Residence has a single pier to the south. Deep brown squares, rectangles, and other areas represent buildings in the city.

The Faymouth Poster Map includes a version of the city by artist Stefan Schloesser.  The maps include the city and the surrounding environs. This product is a print on demand colored 12” x 18” poster map.

This is a companion product to our The City of Faymouth product powered by FATE.

Sorry but about 6 months ago we lost all our files and backup files, so the original is not available.

Pity. Although couldn't you scan one of the physical prints? Not necessarily the best quality, but at least it would be something.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
