Dungeons on Demand

Dungeons on Demand is a line instant dungeons you can drop into your campaign, each is designed for 4-5 player parties of specified levels, and each dungeon is complete with a back story, hand drawn maps, traps, puzzles, and reference information to monsters and treasure. You can customize each one to fit in your campaign however you wish, and each one can be played through in one or two gaming sessions.

EVERY DUNGEONS ON DEMAND ADVENTURE FEATURES

Maps

Player Safe Maps - Maps for each encounter area (and the dungeon as a whole) come prepared for both the players and GMs. Helpful for when you want to give the party something to visualize without revealing hidden monsters, traps, and treasure.

Quick Reference Icons

Quick Reference Icons - GM maps are fully labelled and complete with quick reference icons. These icons give you all the information a GM needs for an encounter area - whether there's monsters lurking to fight, traps the party must contend with, hidden treasure, NPCs to talk to, or a puzzle they must solve. Each icon is given a complete description in the encounter break down.

Combat Difficulty Guages

Combat Difficulty Gauges - Each encounter description provides detailed information on how monsters perform in battle. These gauges allyou to quickly determine how difficult a fight will be for an appropriately leveled party. These gauges rate an encounter from 1 star (very easy) to 5 stars (deadly). Complete with core rulebook page references and full descriptions of custom monsters!

Dungeons on Demand is not affiliated with Wolpertinger Press or Dungeon-on-Demand, but you should definitely check them out!

Author Dan Coleman has been a Dungeon Master for two decades now, first picking up the dice with second edition. He can tell you what THAC0 stands for, a first level fighter's saving throw against rods, staves, and wands, and why players get excited to find "Treasure Type H."

Since then he's been through every new edition, and has written custom classes, spells, items, adventures, and system mods for each. By day he's a humble graphic designer and illustrator, but by night he's a full time role-player and game designer.

Hi, thanks for the great product! I was wondering, whats the logic behind the file names? (V1L1, DODV1, ...)

Thank you Jussi! Glad you're enjoying the product and thank you very much for your support.

The names all include a stock number to keep everything organized by title when sorting. Each adventure is associated by volume (V1, V2, etc...) and character level (L1, L2, etc...). Volumes, bundles, and supplements use various naming conventions as well.

Hope that sums it up for you. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions.

I have to know, Dan, what does the K stand for? It's just killing me...

All of the adventures are funded through Kickstarter before publishing (to pay for time, editing, and any other expenses such as promotions I run). As part of the Kickstarter, I offer stretch goal incentives to make new supplements. "KS" is just an abbreviation of "Kickstarter Supplement."

Hope that sums it up for you Judson :)

Hello Dan!
I am looking for a simple campaign to take a few noobs through for a "different" thanksgiving experience next week. Was thinking about doing a holiday themed campaign, but I can't quite locate one. I am not opposed to making a few modifications myself. Can you think of one of your "On demand" title which might lend itself to such a use?
Thanks for any advice,
Scott

Hey Scott! I'm sorry I missed your comment. Usually I get a notification via email. I'm only just now seeing it.

Funny you mention it, because I came out with a fall/harvest/Thanksgiving/Halloween themed adventure just a couple weeks ago called "Bad Apples." It's not associated with any Dungeons on Demand volume, and you can get the adventure right now as a Pay What You Want purchase. That'd definitely be my recommendation (I know this is late, but at least you could get it next time around!)

Thanks for your support!

I started running "Lord of Gloomthorne" and it slotted into my existing home campaign seamlessly. I'm a new DM and my PCs created new 12th level characters to start the dungeon. Actually, none of us have tried D&D at this character level. It was a big, fun experiment.
Combat seemed to take a lot longer than I expected. We made it through the first encounter in about 3 hours. Is there an indicator of how long these adventures should take from your play testing? I think having a player-safe map would be a great addition to your product for those on Roll 20.

Hi Eapen! Glad you're enjoying Lord of Gloomthrone. Just so you know, there should be a Player Safe map (and set of area maps) for each included adventure. If your copy doesn't have them, you may want to download the most up-to-date version from your DriveThruRPG Library.

Each module is designed to last 1 to 2 6-hour sessions, at least by my tests. However if combat is taking you that long they'll definitely take longer, as there's 6 - 8 combat encounters included in the mid to high level ones. You can always cut down on the amount of encounters or creatures in each encounter to speed it up, or change the amount of hit points the creatures have.

Good luck, have fun, and let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Dan,
Thanks for writing back and for your exemplary support of your product! I just saw the update of the "Fog of War" maps. Very cool. I'll drop a review on once I get through the adventure. Your series has been a super addition to my DM toolkit and the players have really enjoyed the first adventure so far.
Take care, E

I've been looking for some well written 5th edition modules with a somewhat "old school" feel for a while. I think the adventure league modules are just so-so. Then I discovered The Dungeon on Demand volumes and gave them a try. The information is very concise and well presented so it doesn't take a DM long to prepare but there's also some very strong additional info such as prompts and background for how to play certain NPCs that I found to be very creative and well written. I also love the concept of "player safe maps" and "GM only maps." I purchased these bundles, printed them and had them bound at UPS and feel like I received a very good value for my dollar.

Future feature request. For VTTs it's nice to have both the "Player-safe" and the "GM-only" maps available as separate images. Especially with a system like Roll20 where you can over the GM layer and PC layer.

Really just a small improvement though, providing the PC maps separately is already a really nice perk.

I would like to print out the player safe maps. What settings would work best?

The maps are generally small in dimension (for use online with tabletop simulators), so if you print them at 100% they'll only be a couple square inches. That should work if you just want to give the players a reference, but if you want to create a grid for use with miniatures you'll need to enlarge them. They're high resolution, so they can be enlarged and still print without looking too blurry!

Noticed the update in my email about "Added updated version of New Twists on Old Monsters."
Are the changes in the printer friendly version also?

You bet! If you download the link for your library, the print friendly version has been updated as well. If you have any problems, just let me know.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
