Dungeon Map Tiles II - Adventure Map Creation Art Assets

The Dungeon Map Tiles II pack of art assets expands on the success of our first Dungeon Map Tiles set with a second different texture theme for building your own fantasy castles, goblin villages, wizards towers, or whatever structure your imagination can imagine.

This set of map tiles brings a completely new look and feel to the dungeon tiles, with all-new artwork. This set includes all of the basic walls, passageways, and odd cornerstone tiles of the first set. Plus 10ft diameter curved wall tiles and 20ft diameter curved wall tiles. The outdoor tiles present a grungy brick building edge that seamlessly matches up with the grass tiles from the first set.

Art Assets - Raw Image Files Edition

Dungeon Map Tiles II SampleThis edition of the Dungeon Map Tiles II pack is designed for use by Game Masters who love building their own maps and want access to a toolbox of ready-made artistic material rather than the hassle of designing their own material from scratch. The map tiles within this package were designed to act as a library of art assets that a Dungeon Master could simply just drag-n-drop onto a canvas to form a map.

The package contains a wealth of raw image files in JPG, PNG, and WEBP file formats. These image files form the building blocks which you can assemble into the form of a dungeon, fortress, monster lair, or whatever kind of adventure map structure you desire.

Start with a blank canvas inside the graphics editing program of your choice, for example Photoshop, or Gimp. Then start composing the form of an adventure location by grabbing a map tile from the library, then plonk it onto the canvas right where you want it to go. Keep placing down map tiles and your adventure map will take form like a giant jigsaw puzzle.

Using map tiles permits very granular control over the form of your dungeon chambers and passageways, rather than relying on pre-constructed rooms which you cannot change. Once the structure of the map is in place, add the final touches by dressing your map with props and object tokens such as tables, chairs, statues, etc.

Map Tile Artwork

Each dungeon map tile is a combination of hand-drawn artwork and photographic source material that provides a unique style of all Studio WyldFurr Maps. All tiles have been rendered from a bird's eye view of the landscape, with shadowing used to give the illusion of depth.

Map Tile Scale

Each map tile employs a standard scale of each real-world inch equaling three on-screen pixels, for a standard map grid square size of 180 pixels. But we have also included smaller 50-pixel square map tiles for those of us who use the smaller 50-pixel square grid size for creating virtual tabletop adventure maps.

Tailz

"I started this set to give Dungeon Masters a second series of tiles that can be used together with tiles from the first set to create multiple buildings each with their own different feeling. I hope you have as much fun with this set, as I did making it and using it in my own role-playing games."

- Tailz from Studio WyldFurr.

IMPORTANT: This pack of art assets is not a stand-alone game, it is a collection of image files for use in graphics editing programs (such as Photoshop or Gimp) to create adventure maps for use in virtual tabletop roleplaying Apps such as Fantasy Grounds, FoundryVTT, Roll20, d20Pro, etc.

PUBLISHER
I'd like to offer a samples PDF, but the site admin are not keen about linking to offsite content (which is understandable). So I am slowly adding in some sample artwork displaying maps made with each set along with a YouTube of me making sample maps.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
