Compact Design

Each card (115 of them found in the SRD) provides you with all the spell's rules in a compact and easy-to-read format.

  • Icons represent important mechanics, such as Concentration prominently shows (as a Thinking Person icon).
  • If the spell can be cast as a ritual, a candle appears next to the level number.
  • Material components display as preserved or consumed during casting (different icons).
  • Each card ONLY shows what is relevant to the spell - there are no spots for 'At Higher Levels' or a components section unless the spell requires it.

This compact form allows maximum space for....

The Spell Description

  • Space Saving mechanics - all spells pack their mechanical aspects (saving throws, ability checks, conditions) into an easy to read form, often enhanced by...
  • Color and text styling - saving throws have color-coded failure and success results. At a glance, you can cut through the spell text and see damage buffs and advantage and disadvantage effects.
  • If a spell cannot be fully described on a single card, a page number to the source reference is cited. Most spells requiring the reference have the most important mechanics shown on the card.

All the SRD Spells - Not just a theme pack

All the spells in the SRD are present, not just those based on arcane or divine classes. You only have to buy one pack to obtain every card (this does not mean all the spells in the phb are provided - only the open content ones).

Print and Play

  • Each card is poker-sized: 2.5 x 3.5 inches, with 9 cards per sheet.
  • The source file contains all the spells from the SRD. The PDF file is layered, so you can turn off the background for ink savings.
  • Levels do not across a single page, so the card backs will match. Where blank cards exist, some useful condition cards and area of effect descriptions exist.
  • A card back style for each level is bundled in the file.
  • Any updates to cards will be released as a separate file set with only the cards needing replacement included.
  • The PDF is printing press ready - The color is CMYK, at 240% Ink
  • You are licensed to print copies for yourself.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
