Teach Your Kids to Love the Game With Deadball Junior!
Or Make it a Grand Slam With Deadball Complete: In Print or PDF!

"Breezy fun…. [Deadball] captures the spirit and feel of the sport." —Baseball Prospectus

"With Deadball you can simulate America’s Pastime during any season, no matter where you are." —Sports Illustrated Kids

Deadball is a fast-paced baseball dice game for one or two players that uses real statistics to bring the ballpark to your tabletop. Its elegantly simple rules are intuitive to die-hards and casual fans alike, allowing you to simulate a game between real or imaginary teams in about twenty minutes. Download the free quick start guide to see how it works.

Deadball uses real statistics that every fan knows and understands, like batting average and ERA, allowing new players to pick it up in minutes. Because the game is based directly on real, freely-available stats, you can play as any team you want.

Any. Team. You. Want.

Pit history's greatest teams against each other. Replay seasons from fifty years before you were born. Watch today's all-stars go head-to-head with the legends of the past. Any match-up you can imagine, Deadball will make real.

Don't want to play with real players? Deadball's fast, intuitive character creation system generates players, teams and leagues faster than you can say "Play ball!" The game's rules are easy-to-learn and endlessly customizable, allowing you to remake the game however you see fit.

This book contains:

  • Basic rules for ultra-fast play, and advanced rules for a deeper game
  • An introduction to baseball scorekeeping
  • A random player table that allows you to roll up a new team in minutes
  • Guidelines for creating and running your own league, including rules for new prospects, high-stakes trades, catastrophic injuries and player aging
  • Detailed rosters for the legendary Southern Circuit, a fictional league whose story begins here
  • The revolutionary Five Tool System, which allows you to create custom-designed players and watch them grow, game after game, season after season
For the dead of winter, for the dead of night, for when your team is dead in the water, Deadball is there.

A NOTE ABOUT DICE: This book does not come with dice. You can play Deadball with any standard set of RPG dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d00, d12, d20), or a dice-rolling app.

You should consider putting your Deadball products on itch.io! It’s my new go to for awesome little games like this.

I have a question about the rules. In page 12 of the manual sais " If you hand out more than four Bonus Traits, start giving out Negative Traits". But I've not see how many negative traits I have to put to be "legal".

down sais "Each player can have two traits". Ok but I want to Know I have to drag.
Thanks

I hope I can get a response soon so I don't miss the holiday sale. But Is this book a revised rule book for Deadball: 1909? Do I still need to buy Deadball:1909 or can I just buy this book and the other two expansions?

Hey anyone know what 9-game pennant Win/Loss records are correct? The main .pdf has one set of numbers, but the Pennant supplement files have another.
Both sets total 145 games, so....which one?

Could someone who's read/played both this game and The Tools of Ignorance comment on how the two games compare with one another?

Hi!
Do you have to know the baseball rules to play the game? Or are these included?
(I'm from Germany - baseball is not very common here ;-) )

Hey Daniel - The rules are included. You're basically buying either a book or PDF of how to play the game.

Sorry - I expressed myself inarticulately. I didn't mean the game rules.

Are the baseball rules included? Or are the game rules so that one can derive the baseball rules?

In other words: Do I have to be a baseball pro to play your game? We guys from Germany know this about baseball - you have a ball and hit it with a "stick" [1%]. I know it's a bat [0.5%]. The rest looks soccer ;-)

The game requires a basic knowledge of baseball, but you do not have to be a "pro" to enjoy the game. Deadball comes with basic and advanced (optional) rules so you can make your games a simple and complex as you like. I think the simple version is fine for someone who wants to get a feel for a baseball game without getting into the nuances.

It's easier to explain baseball to someone from England. Baseball is much closer to rounders than soccer.

Actually, if you're from Germany are you familiar with brennboll? It's the closest thing I can think of there.... though further away from baseball than rounders.
