I am unable to rate this book even though I purchased the off. I really would like to.

Would this game be good for running a Star Wars themed game. (I prefer pdfs, fyi, and don't like pirated content, so SW is a pain for me.)

Yes. Genesys is basically the Toolkit System version of their trilogy of Star Wars RPGs.

For any who have concerns over just how flexible this is, There was a GI Joe game ran with this at Gamer Nation Con 5 this last weekend, and it went marvelous.

I can't open the pdf with Moon Reader pro on my Android, but I can with others readers. Any one else has this issue ?

This technical glitch aside, I juste love this game and the design of the book !

I think that's because of update to watermarking and encrypting method DTRPG chose.
I had the same issue and had to address to the customer's service but to no avail. As of now, you can only read books that are not locked/encrypted.
Secondly, being a 3rd party program for pdf, it does not read the image like adobe acrobat, so it must have something to do with password and special treatment that pdfs get before downloading it from the website.
It is a bummer because moon reader's one of the most organized and comfortable pdf reading app out there, and recent change to dtrpg makes it difficult for us to read through it.

Can I play a game with one game master and one player. I’m new and my 6 year old is getting into rpg with me and already did hero kids.
Customer avatar
Ron B April 06, 2018 1:01 pm UTC
Absolutely! As the game master, you are in complete control of every aspect of the game. Especially since you will be responsible for creating every bad guy and scenario from scratch under this system, at least for now.

Donnald J April 12, 2018 3:38 am UTC
As a side note to Ron B's completely correct answer, with the nature of the dice mechanic this could be played without a game master, and a completely cooperative story could be told with both player's telling their stories, and making the world as they go along.

I really like this game system heck of a lot. I liked it in its early form in WHFRP 3e and I liked it Star Wars (all the versions). This version is the best yet.
HOWEVER - it's sitting at the number one Superhero option and I'm afraid to say having used it for a superheroes game, that as it stands right now without an add-on supplement specifically targeting four-colour action, masked & costumed heroes etc. the game can _at best_ do cinematic action movie heroes but its not going to approach the the Adventures of our favorite "assembled" heroes or those who are League unto themselves. The main reason for this is there is not enough talents and not enough support in this book for a Supers game. So if your only buying this for that be cautious. It's a great game and a great system yet right now it has some way to go to become a Superhero game.

It has a way to go to become anything. It's an amazing system, but without additional sourcebooks it is entirely incumbent on a GM to come up with basically EVERYTHING.

Agreed. Terenoth is a good effort. id love to see an Andriod:netrunner book in the same fashion. Maybe a Twilight Imperium one too. Mostly though I'd like to see FFG land the Marvel rpg licence and do a whole range of properties and rpg extension, board, card and most assuredly miniatures game play.

Yeah. I'm waiting on an Android source book before taking the plunge on this one

I like Career - Specializations in the EofE game. Also Obligations. Any hope of supplements with these? Will Realms of Terrinoth have these elements or something like this?

does this product include a printer friendly version, or at least a background layer that can be disabled for home printing?
Customer avatar
Dan A February 03, 2018 7:03 pm UTC
Hi Brian,
The background is practically white, and there´re not a lot of illustrations through the book. Additionally, I don´t think that those illustrations are too ink-heavy anyways. Take a look at the full size preview.

Does this require proprietary dice?
Customer avatar
chris D January 09, 2018 7:31 pm UTC
yes this uses the narrative dice system made popular but their star wars line of rpgs. if you already own some of those dice then your set.

there is a conversion guide to convert standard dice over but that's just a headache.

while yes it does use a proprietary dice system it's really well done and not everyone needs a set. you could get two sets for sure and that should cover most sessions. 3 sets with higher xp characters may come in handy.

At first I was against a dice proprietary dice system until the first time I played and was hooked from there.

oh and there is also a app available to purchase on both Android and iOS if you don't mind digital.
Customer avatar
William H March 13, 2018 3:59 am UTC
Yes, it uses custom dice. If you have the Star Wars dice, however, the symbols may be different, but the result meanings and probabilities are the same.

I have a ton of WHFRP 4E dice. Would they work?

GoodReader is my iOS pdf reader of choice, but it is missing the graphics on page 232 & 239.

Adobe Acrobat for iOS on the other hand does show them just fine.

Hopefully GoodReader 5 will fix the problem when it gets released.

So far so good-I am quite inspired by a generic rpg using those crazy star wars dice

Any "Evil Hat-style" discounts for those of us who purchased the physical book already? An additional $20 seems a bit steep for the convenience of an electronic copy for reference when we've already bought into the core book and 2 sets of dice.

Would be nice, but given that it is FFG and the game is selling like crazy, I doubt it

Comp copies.. hmm I remember dark hehresy 2nd edition had literally broken spine of the book and some had traded off for a new copy. But yeah, I don't think they would do comp copies... of course you gotta find it out for yourself in the end to make sure.

jeeesus, mine too the spine broken after very short amount of usage...

Yeah same problem. A Digital-to-deadtree owners bonus would be ideal.

Original electronic
Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
