Explore the World of the Award-Winning Powder Mage Universe!

Set four years after the end of the Adran-kez War as recounted in The Autumn Republic, the Powder Mage RPG outlines a world in the upheaval of political, social and technological revolution.

It makes use of the Savage Worlds game system to allow for a versatile and easy-to-learn ruleset, fast character creation and the ability to set out on an adventure within minutes.

It also includes previously unpublished information about the countries, people, and history of the Powder Mage Universe.

Players can throw themselves into conflicts thorughout the Nine Nations, from the power struggles within the budding republic of Adro to the unstable intrigue of the migrating courts of the baron-kings of Unice. To do so, they can take on any number of roles: a humble Knacked trying to createa  family fortune, a Privileged sorcerer out to change the world, or even a power mage, bent on revenge for past slights.

Unfortunately the Full-Size Preview seems to be a dead link.

This looks interesting. What genre would you describe this as? It looks steampunk-ish, but idk from the write-up.

Alan, I backed on KS and got the dice; are the playing cards anything more than swag? I can't find any reference to them and direct message and tweets to BM weren't answered.
Thanks for any insight.

I see there are some content and clarification requests out there. Are there any plans to update this for SWADE at the same time?

Hey Todd,

We have no plans at this time, however, we're aware of the new edition and have looked into it.

So I didn't want to post this as a review and ruin any ratings but I felt almost like this was a primer or a player's guide and not a complete game. Some of it seemed incomplete, too. For example, when you pick your culture (the first step) you're told that it will give you two skills, but in some cases, you get more than that (the equivalent of two feats) and for some reason, the Unice only receive one skill with no other benefit. Unfortunately, there's nothing to tell you why they only receive the d4 Knowledge: Religions, either.

The Wardens missing from the book just seems like a glaring omission considering how often they showed up in the Powder Mage Trilogy. The air rifles also threw me, as the novels describe them as being fragile and how the slightest mistake with them can render the gun useless, but there's nothing about that in the mechanics. There's a misfire rule for black powder weapons, though.

One more issue is that the Deliv Privileged are known as exceptional healers,...See more

Is there any chance of us getting more content? I mean I could use a bestiary for threats such as Black Street Barbers, Wardens, etc. I also feel like there isn't enough information for me as the GM. This review below sums up my feelings about this:

Is there an anticipated gm guide? I don't see any rules on Wardens (Black or otherwise). I can understand being vague on Bone-Eyes or other Dyzine lore. But to play during the Powdermage trilogy a warden provides the level of difficulty between a human antagonist and a privileged antagonist.

Am I missing how to actually use the Privileged powers? I'll admit, I've jumped around a bit, but still having trouble finding out how to use the powers.

Hey Mike!

They function like other powers (Chapter Five, the powers section of Savage Worlds Deluxe) with their own unique Spellcasting Skill, and the associated rules for experience.

FYI, the full size preview doesn't work. The quick preview is too blurry to see what you are looking at.

August 20th, 2018 - the Full Size preview apparently still isn't working. 5 months later. Can't see anything in the quick preview.

Very poor.

Hi, just a clarification:

In the Races and Culture part of the CharGen rules, you guys put there "d4" for each of the starter Skills in each Culture.

In the Core Rulebook, if those are indeed +1 Abilities (since humans have an Extra Edge as default, which translates as a +2 Abilties thing) then they should be "Starts with a d6"

"4 Powder Points to make a container with Gunpowder in it explode as per the Burst Power."
What is the range of this ability? As the Burst power? 24/48/96, with penalties for a range?

I don't own the book, but the burst power as per the SW core rules uses a cone template for range/area of effect. In your comment above you likely confused it with the blast power.

Hey Justin!

We're fulfilling Print backer copies still, so until that's done there will be no POD. Probably at least a month (to two.)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
