Numenera GM Screen

Great artwork, useful tables and a great concept to use a generic GM screen and only have the printable pages available, although I can see reason for wanting the pages in portrait orientation.

A few more pages and tables would have been handy to give uses more choice as to what to put in their screen (or to just keep as a stack of reference material close at hand), especially with how sparse some of the pages are. The lists of Artifacts and Oddities, the Armor table for Might cost per hour, the tables for climbing surface difficulty and jump distance, and maybe a couple of others would have been great additions to the PDF.

Numenera Cypher Deck

Originally I didn't think this product was going to be all that useful beyond relegating one of the GM's rare dice rolls to the player drawing cards, but having looked through the actual PDF I have changed my mind somewhat.

The included cypher powers are mostly taken straight from the Core book but powers like the Gas Bomb or Poison (Emotion) have been expanded so the possible table rolls from the book are each represented by a card power, which means the cards can stand on their own and do not require cross-referencing with the rulebook. There are also a few new powers that I noticed, which are (for me) the highlight of the deck.

My only real let-down with this deck is the printer-unfriendly layout of the PDF, but with the XP Deck recently having a printer-friendly revamp, I am sure this PDF will follow suit shortly.

Numenera Player's Guide

For the most part the Player's Guide is just selected excerpts taken directly from the Core book, so there really isn't anything new if you've already picked up the Numenera rulebook.

What you do get however is a well-selected cross-section of the information that players need to give them a basic understanding of the rules, the setting, and the characters they are creating, all interspersed with a great selection of the artwork.

I'm much happier giving new, and even experienced, players this book with only 64 pages of specifically selected content, over letting them try to figure out what is useful and what is not from the Core book which weighs in at over 400 pages.

The only things I really feel could have made this book more useful are the addition of sidebar annotations & hyperlinks as in the Core book, and to transplant the character creation walkthrough from the Core book to the end of this book as it would feel much more "at home" here.
