Wonderful resource for my weird wild west game. Eventhough we are using FATE rules, this is an amazing resource of top quality. i didnt need it, but I bought the hardcover book also and it is beautiful. Top notch product.

My only negative comment is that I dont see work being done on more cases. I've bought all of the ones it suggests to convert, but I'd love more.

Just bought this and started playing with a friend of mine that tends to like noir, 1 on 1 and problem solving. We started playing the first scenario where he is playing the hardboiled PI.

The story and background is amazing and we are having lots of fun thus far. We aren't using the system he prefers GURPS but that's of little consequence. We are also playing it as a modern day scenario not necessarily in LA, but that is fine also.

I'm excited to see how this folds out. I'm assuming this will lead to more 1 on 1 scenarios as we play thru more of these scenarios and then eventually get into the "Trail of Cthulhu" with another player or two. The material is great!

The Things We Leave Behind is just some of the best modern horror material I've ever read. Period.

This is a nice supplement to that, but I just wanted to commend TWLB again.

Also, I want to make a plug for "Fear's Sharp Little Needles" in Kickstarter. It is a follow on to TWLB and I can't wait!

I've read through all the scenarios and I am currently using one. Just beautiful dark, investigative horror stories. I don't care about the system really but these are brilliant!

Where is the new Kickstarter? I guess there is NO way to buy the stuff for the overarching details.

I'm afraid not, Todd. It was a commitment made to our backers not to release any exclusive content on general release. Our Kickstarter has begun and we've blasted through our stretch goals and 'backer exclusive' content has come up again so go on over! I'd like to thank you for all the kind words and your review. it fuels our desire to keep producing! Stephanie.

Nova Praxis [Augmented PDF] [Fate]

PDF is nice. Setting is nice. But implementation of FATE was not to my liking. Too much crunch character creation. Unlike FATE Core (or other FATE versions?), this has too many ways to "game" your character so you can get higher resources etc. Less rules, use the core basic FATE system. I still may use some material but I just started a Mindjammer campaign and although I've been trying to get more to a hard sci-fi like EclipsePhase, Transhuman Space or Nova Praxis setting, Mindjammer was more true to what I have like so far with FATE.

But I'm prolly biased since I got FATE Core, read thru it and used it couple times before I tried to use Nova Praxi and its derivative. In Nova Praxis's defense, I've guesssing the Eclipse Phase FATE version is probably too "crunchy" also for my liking.

Push: New Thinking About Roleplaying

Only read the first article and part of the second one thus far but just great material. Very mature thoughts on role-playing as opposed to roll-playing. Great job! I'm sorry it didn't go very far but it makes sense. The vast majority of RPGers just want to kick down a door, kill the monster within on a beautifully static preplanned map then take the treasure. After that..."Where is the next door?"

Unfortunately, there are still few, although more now than before, that value this type of information these days.

Eclipse Phase: Continuity (first edition)

This was the funnest adventure we played during our short stint in EP a couple years ago. My players absolutely loved the intro and I have used similar intros in new adventures (not going to spoil it). Needless to say, my only complaint is it was too short!

EP needs more material like this that has better legs to go on for more than two sessions. The follow on ideas did have enough meat for me to run so we tried other stuff. Unfortunately by that point the damage was done. I could not recreate that excitement with any follow up material and the players wanted to move on to something else.

I ran the original 'start' on the Pinnacle cruise ship a couple years ago until one of my two players moved away. We loved it! Now I'm running this alternate beginning with some non-RPGers using FAE (FATE Accelerated) and we are loving it again. They are big zombie genre lovers and this really helps us have material to keep that moving. Better yet, it has been easy to plugin FAE instead of Savage Worlds this time.

Probably the most provocative settings I've read to date. Beautiful art and background. Unfortunately my only negatives are that the system is not to my taste and there is not enough solid adventure material to help GMs run this complicated, yet interesting, setting.

When there are more 'stories' to use for adventures and the FATE version is available, I believe it will get a stronger following.

They don't need my review but I've read through most of this now and SOOOO wish I could get my players to play it. Well...truth is I am weaving some of their ideas into my current campaign. Tee hee!

I'm not a fan of the Basic RPG system but this background material and adventure stuff is really well written. I am using Savage Worlds but leaning more towards FATE these days but converting is not too hard.

The Void Core PDF
Publisher: WildFire
by Todd C. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 02/23/2014 19:38:20

Artwork, fiction and premise is very interesting to me which is why I dove in on this and have bought both Stygian Cycle adventures. I thing I like is the blend of sci-fi and horror for a very Aliens feel. It is also more approachable than some of the newer 'Transhuman' sci-fi games that are interesting but very hard to get players to understand the setting. Once again, this is easier to understand.

So if they idea, fiction, approachability and artwork are 5 stars, I gave this a 4 because the system is a 3 in my opinion. I'd suggest simply provide the setting for a couple base systems like Savage Worlds and Fate Core. I'd rather the authors focus on what they are good at...story. Leave the RPG system to something that people will know quickly and has been tested out alot already.

Also the intro adventure at the end had an interesting premise and build up but the ending and monsters were meh for me. So it was a 3 also.

I'm going to use some of this material in another setting with different rules anyways so the story is what I want to steal ideas from...solid start guys!

The Demolished Ones (Fate)

I read all kinds of RPG scenarios whether they apply to my current game or not. This one REALLY caught my interest. As usual, I tried to convince one of my players that we should step away from our current InterfaceZero (SavageWorlds Cyberpunk) game to try this out. As usual, he kinda said no.

Few months later, I decide a virtual reality 'prison' scenario seems to be in order. It occurs to me that this might fit.

Waking up on the stone floor in different 'bodies' in the midst of a murder really excited my players. I let them still use their character stats basically but a session later they realize they are in a virtual reality and having a blast with The City!

WARNING!!! The free preview has spoilers so don't print it off and give it to a player. Better to just spring it on them. ;-)

AWESOME work! I am trying Fate Core RPG on another group and have enjoyed it so far but converting this one to Savage Worlds and using for an unrelated campaign as worked swimmingly.
