This excellent work sets the standard for superhero city guides. Detailed, thorough, compelling and evocative, San Angelo is a city any costumed hero would be proud to call home. But probably the most exciting aspect of this product is how the electronic version uses layers and colors to bring different systems into sharp relief - you can easily differentiate Mutants and Masterminds stats from Action! stats, and so on. This product sets not only the gold standard in content but pushes the boundaries of what PDFs can do as well. A top-notch work well worth every penny, and then some.

There really isn't much I can say about this product that hasn't been said. It's quite simply excellent. You can see certain similarities with other city books that the authors have worked on (ie. Freedom City by Steve Kenson), but it still has it's own personality. Excellent work.

LIKED: Almost everything

DISLIKED: Some editing needed to remove old Champion's references.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
A solid product in it's time, it has been eclipsed by Freedom City by now. I like the quotes from people living in San Angelo very much! A good deal if You need 'another city' in Your comic book universe.

QUALITY: Acceptable

VALUE: Satisfied
This has to be one of the most complete city supplement for any modern roleplaying game. I think I could get adventure ideas from every page. A great supplement.

Astounding attention to detail. The city of San Angelo is as close to a living, breathing place as an RPG supplement can make one.

I found the layout to be a bit busy and confusing at times, as there are breakouts, pullquotes, multiple types of stat blocks, sidebars, etc. However, the information density is very high and the potential game ideas and plot hooks are endless.

It would be helpful to us if you could provide a bit more detail about the reasons for the score you gave the book (especially for such a low score).

Utterly superb! San Angelo is no longer a unique product, but it's still the best. Any number of fictional comic book cities are now available as setting books for various superhero games, but this is the one you need.

San Angelo: City of Heroes is simply the best treatment of a modern city that has ever been published for a roleplaying game. In my opinion, nothing else comes close. The level of detail contained within this product is simply astonishing. Even if you don't like superhero games, I still recommend this sourcebook as an example of how to build a modern city for an RPG. In fact, with a bit of work it would be possible to use San Angelo as a setting for other games such as d20 Modern, White Wolf's World of Darkness, or R. Talsorian's Cyberpunk 2020. San Angelo: City of Heroes was originally published as a sourcebook for use with the Champions RPG from Hero Games. This PDF edition converts the setting for use with Green Ronin's Mutants & Masterminds and the Action! System from Gold Rush Games. In some places the conversion isn't perfect and some references to game jargon derived from Champions have slipped past the editors. However, don't let this minor quibble scare you away. If you don't already have a copy of the print version of San Angelo, you should buy this version to get some idea what all of the fuss is about.
