3rd times the charm. Another collection of do-gooders and near-do-wells to freshen-up one's game. I'm always looking for interesting characters to use, particularly if someone came up with a concept I would never think to use in that way. Very satisfied.

As I've now bought all of the Mirror Universe sets, I'm reviewing 3, 4, and 5 together here. 1 and 2 I reviewed recently and 6 I will review later.

3, 4 and 5 continue the line at its basic strengths, nice looking, cartoon-style superhero cut-out art cards. The good/bad alternates for each are as inspired as the first two volumes, though there is now greater variety I would say. The overall vibe is still very much a silver-age/bronze-age one which is fine for me but maybe not perfect for anyone hoping for more dark and gritty heroes/villains.

Ultimately these are a fine tool for use with any superhero campaign, especially as either quick heroes and villain inspiration, or simply as visual tools. Oh, and check the Inspired Device homepage for previews and freebies if you're undecided, or if you fancy a horde of faceless footsoldiers, heh.

Mirror Universe 3 is another of my favorite sets, though I can't imagine what my players would say if I had them attacked by the kid with the whips sewn into his costume. You should know that the hero/villain origins usually have nothing to do with one another, so you really are getting double the number of character ideas. And it's hard to choose which Rattles I'll use.

This is cool! The art is like the Batman, Superman and JL cartoons. I will be getting more soon! I would suggest having a bmp or jpeg of each character you can place on a character sheet. Great stuff guy's

An RPG Resource Review:

The third collection of super-character images is presented in the same way as earlier ones: full colour stand-up, minatures scale stand-up and counter for each of the 12 characters, plus lineart versions for those with their own ideas of tasteful colours, M&M 'condition monitor' tags and outline notes depicting these characters as hero or villain (6 of each).

This batch includes a power-suit which surely must fly (but will have problems with narrow doorways), a martial artist with some kind of fighting iron, a 'Captain America' style character with shield, another power-suit, a stealthy-looking fellow in a cape, someone who looks like he escaped from a diplomatic reception, three basic lycra-suited figures (one female), a female who packs a punch, and a couple of odd figures who look as if their costumes do not fit them very well! If somewhere within that there is someone who fits your character concept - or who inspires one - it is a useful set for the group who like a coherent visual element to their game. Fine drawings in true comic-book style (perhaps more angular and less shaded, but very attractive), and plenty of scope for them to play a role on your table.

Mirror Universe is a nice product, it explores a well used plot device from the comics genre and wraps it up in a fun player friendly book.

LIKED: Nice art, and some different concepts than you may see in some games.

DISLIKED: By the discription I expected a full page picture of each of the characters, not just the foldups.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Satisfied
Once gain, Mirror Universe delivers another great batch of Super Hero Standees. My M&M gaming groups find the large standees to be a great way to quickly get a feel for the look and personality everyone's character.

LIKED: Excellent character design. The whole Good/Bad idea provides great inspiration for creating Arch-nemesis

DISLIKED: Still some printing performance issues.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
There's a really strong selection of archetypes now (if you have all three volumes) and it allows you to cover most of the more common character types.

Same graet art style and a same great utility - more please :)

LIKED: Cool, individual designs, and a great consistency across all three volumes so far

DISLIKED: Nothing

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
A very stylish product that offers you some nice character designs for those of us who are artistically challenged (or at least for me, since I can?t draw a coffee pot). The character designs range from good to mediocre (I consider this the weakest volume so far, but that is a matter of personal taste) and the same goes for the concepts. If the guys from Inspired Device would add some gamestats for the given concepts the product would be even better. Stand-ups, minis & counters have proven very useful in my M&M games so far. As long as this production quality is maintained, I will continue to buy the Mirror Universe products.

LIKED: Great quality for a low price.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Satisfied
I've got all three volumes now, and I like them a lot. I love the style artwork of the Batman/Superman/Justice League Unlimited cartoons on Cartoon Network, and these heroes would fit in just perfect. I can't wait to see more.

QUALITY: Very Good

VALUE: Ripped Off
Like the previous two volumes, we're given twelve more character designs and concepts, which are good for GMs and players alike looking for a jumpstart for their characters.

LIKED: The choice between color and b/w versions (the latter for your own coloring schemes), and a very efficient layout for the various counters.

DISLIKED: Not much, really. As I noted in previous volumes, there should be a better balance between female and male characters, and perhaps an option for using the b/w pages in graphics programs like Paintshop or Painter.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
Another six characters, sixty cents each, with two variations of each. Plus concepts for heroic & villainous versions, if you need that.

LIKED: At least one character out of each pair pretty much demanded to be used...

DISLIKED: Not much, the product does it's job pretty well.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Very Satisfied
I have been very impressed with the Mirror Universe series. The Bruce Timm art styles is quite popular know and they have done an amazing job capturing his style in the various characters presented in this series.

LIKED: Art is exceptional! Well laid out product.

DISLIKED: I wouldn't call it a dislike...but I would love to see the character concepts fleshed out a little more, possibly with recommended powers and power levels.

QUALITY: Excellent

VALUE: Satisfied
