CCC-TRI-03 Fences and Swords (Part One of the RocSlide Series)
Publisher: Dungeon Masters Guild

A great well written adventure, several of my players chose the bar scene instead of the cave and the NPCs that make up the bar are flavorful and fun. Almost none of my groups turned on the fence, and ended up playing up the final final battle. Instead of inside the bar I move it to the streets because I have a city map that I like using and it allows the rouge baddies to hide in allys and roofs. A great adventure highly reccomend.

I love this adventure. The final combat is rediculous a pirate boat battle with warlocks. The final act has been more RP every time I've played it then fighting. Several groups have tried to join the pirate crew rather than fight, and with season 8 not many people are part of factions so the drive to get them to complete the objective is a little lacking. I found myself trying to convince my players that being a pirate was wrong more then anything else. Still great characters and a great story.

The puzzles, combat and storyline of all these adventures are leagues above the rest of the modules I've seen on here in the past. I'd rather run any of these a dozen times before I play another DDAL08 adventure. 05 is heavy combat and intresting investigation scenes, 06 is a hag filled blast with a crazy final combat.

While I love the item this adventure rewards the way it ended up in the final version is poorly designed. The adventure has the players avoid getting pickpocketed for almost no real reason with season 8 gold shortage just ignore that whole section. The end section talks about sneaking in and attacking later at night it's just weirdly written. It needs a lot more handwaving then I would like. The grung and the item are the only good things about this mod.

This adventure has some brutal combats, if played right the dm could easily tpk without breaking a sweat. I allowed my players short rests in between each encounter but 7 level 12s it was brutal. The rp scenes were interesting but my players didn't really engage well in the third area my fighter decided to just swim away from the combat and starting the save at 23 was a little rediculous as everyone who tried immediatly failed, I allowed them to grab the kelp to help them defend it. Altogether I think I'd start the save at 21 and move it down from there, maybe even 19. Well written and as only 4 pages for a t3 adventure it seems a little crazy. I haven't bought the rest of the series yet but looking forward to how this ends.

Magical Darkness throughout the entire adventure....low cr monsters, then finally a monster scary enough to make my players afraid didn't even make it to it's first turn in inititive. Next time I run this everything will be at max health including the final boss. This was a joke of an adventure, I had the dragon attack the pcs to give them SOMETHING to fight. Need to add thematically appropriate monsters to give a challenge.

I really enjoy roleplay heavy adventures. However, this is just rediculous. So if the players want to complete the quest in the time limit allotted they would need to skip the entire underwater scene and ship exploration. Everything all together easily puts this at a 6 hour adventure. My combats lasted 2 rounds each tops. The monsters are a relitive challenge for teir 3 but not by much. What is the group supposed to do if they don't have a wizard to cast water breathing? The fact that everything eventually leads to one place is one thing but the fact that only one enemy knows the location just seems like a wild goose chase. What if the pcs just kill the crazy old elf and take the sword. It's just poorly written. The modual also suggests to the player to case Find the Path, which my player actually had a blessing from Ubto for. That was the only neat part about this adventure.

I really enjoyed running this adventure. It ran exactly 2 hours both times which is nearly unheard of. The combats were interesting and could be deadly. I had a player downed in almost every fight. The big One is scary and well written. I maximized his health both times I ran and I really wish he had a bit more he did go down pretty easy with level 9's who have been to Barovia. Still the rp encounters were flavorful and all my pcs really enjoyed it. 5/5 would run again.

4/5 I really enjoyed the unique characters. I felt the fights weren't tough. My group had a cleric and 2 paladins so the undead never really did stand a chance. The puzzles were more or less just roll a high enough int check. My group didn't have any int and it ended up taking longer then wanted. The encounters were all interesting and I really enjoyed it overall.
