The Demonplague

I received both the hard and soft covers for this book, and the quality for the print product is excellent. The font is large enough for my aging eyes and the B&W graphics are excellent. Lots of combat maps to play on, plenty of charts to generate a sandboxish hexploration campaign make this book an excellent campaign to run.

Even the railroad and the megadungeon were of excellent quality, making them easy to read and to run. Having backed the kickstarter, I also received the digital assets, and these, being the same as the print product were excellent. The only thing I could ask for from this already peerless product are VTT icons in jpg or png format for the custom monsters, but that is it.

I cannot recommend the Demonplague enough.

I went into this thinking that maybe I would get a hundred or so of short textual descriptions of space craft, but after giving it a good read, I was surprised. Lovingly crafted, this will help me save a lot of time on creating space hulks and other derelict craft. The option to print out the cards is a FANTASTIC idea. Thank you!!

Going through the 7-Osiris station, with both the derelict and running bits is a journey that I enjoyed, giving me just enough detail to make my own stations come to life, without having to go through a ton of rules or statistics.

I believe this product is priced just right, but really, I feel that it is worth more than that.

High Space Starship Figure Flats

I was very pleased with this product, as it offered me exactly what it advertised: starship flats for use with a tactical hex-grid. Lots and lots to choose from, as well as two different formats, with the second one being more useful to me, as it took up more of the sheet and I didn't have to waste space on my sticker paper or the lamination. Thanks!

Certainly worth the price, but honestly, I would have paid more for it. Keep up the good work with the savage worlds high space product, I'm a big fan of the system and setting.

Cruel Stars: Gear

I've been writing a space opera campaign using the Cypher system core rules, and while the core book is sufficient for most of it, I wanted to have a more flavorful combat system all without necessarily having a tactical space game that was separate from the rest of the cypher rules. So, I started writing up weapons and starship types .. and I thought, self, shouldn't there be a resource for this? And sure enough, the cypher system FB group recommended this book to me. And while the starship combat sections were short, it's what I thought a dogfighting system should look like, along with sample stats for both ships and weapons.

Liking it a lot. Like, a lot. This fits into the cypher system like a hand in a glove. Recommended for anyone who wants a Space Opera flavor to their cypher system game.

Thank you! And now I'm looking at what other products are on offer ... Wait, do I see character roles for a space opera game? Oooh. In any case, this review is done, and on to other cypher system books from this author.

Low Level Adventure Pack (PC levels 1 - 6) [BUNDLE]
Publisher: Dan Coleman Productions
by A customer [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 04/05/2018 21:39:24

This is the second set of adventures I've run, from 1st to 4th level. But, much like the high level adventures, these are laid out in a way that's easy for a DM to run and keep track of. There's typically a lot of combat encounters, a way to circumvent some of the combat, RP encounters, and an optional puzzle. I've been enjoying these for more than 6 months, so it's high time to leave a review and this is it.

These are meant to be 'drop in' adventures, so I'd been using them to augment the 5e hardbacks for a change of pace, as well as for a custom campaign for my Saturday group, and they have been of great help to me, personally.

This is actually the very first batch of Dungeons on Demand adventures that I ran, from 14th to 20th level. Typically, each module has a bunch of combat encounters, some RP, an optional puzzle to figure out (some involving algebra, whaaaat), and a boss encounter. The maps are satisfyingly large, even bigger than my biggest Chessex mat and the adventures are VERY clear to use. These are a gift to DMs. Clear instructions, clear goals, choices to make inside. I'm surprised no one's written a review yet, so please, give all of these adventures a chance.

Ponyfinder - Campaign Setting - Dawn of the Fifth Age
Publisher: Silver Games LLC
by A customer [Verified Purchaser]

I purchased this book when it was first written for the Pathfinder RPG. Back then, there weren't any other things written for it, but my kids and I enjoyed it immensely and I wrote many adventures for it and adapted some of the other PFRPG adventures written for the Golarion setting.

Going through this book and making characters for it gave me a sense of the depth and quality of the work itself. I made 3 characters: a cleric, a wizard, a bard and an archer. Three races were used: earth-bound ponies, unicorn ponies and a flutterpony. Overall, using the familiar races, sub-races and spiritual paths were intuitive and easy to work into a character sheet using the 5e rules. The backgrounds were fantastic as always and there's a little more information in the setting than the original book.

The art is gorgeous, with some of the same being used from the original book, along with new art and what looked like new lore. The book is laid out well and is easy to read, following the 2 column standard that many RPG books use. Overall, this book is worth more than what I paid for it in the kickstarter (which includes the hardcover book that I ordered). I especially want to commend David Silver on organizing everything in a timely and well thought-out manner.

Veranthea Codex

Weighing in at almost 400 pages and a little over 400MB, this is a very hefty work. Even the 'lite' version was 36MB, heavier than most of the works that I have bought. Now, just because a books thick and heavy doesn't mean that it is any good, so I looked over the contents for a bit.

Caveat: by no means this is an all encompassing review and I am bound to not get all of the nuances and features that make this book a good one, but I'll try my best in the time and space that I have.

First of all, there is an entirely new panthen suitable for this world. There are the deities for the various races, deities for nature/world roles, deities for the outer dark, etc etc. I find myself satisfied with the variety here even though they don't quite get into absurd details with them. Maybe a 'Veranthean Gods and Fiends' book in the future could go over them? But right now, it's enough to play with.

Second, there are lots of playstyles and genres within the world. some parts cater to kungfu movie style playing, others are very dark and underground and dungeon crawl classics-ish. Still others are steampunk and guns! Lots of variety here.

Descriptions of the various lands and nations are also fairly detailed. There are even new materials here! Lots of maps are provided of the continents, nations and even a few of the cities. Descriptions of locations inside the cities and nations are also available, along with notable citizens and villains.

Looking over the available equipment, there are even giant robots (the mecha pengu), dirigibles, airplanes, etc. This is very inclusive of steampunk and dieselpunk. There are lots and lots of new archetypes and prestige classes, each one given much attention to detail. Along with the new archetypes and prestige classes, there are example NPCs to go with them.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the book and I'm amazed at the price. This is the kind of campaign that lasts years, to be enjoyed by all. I hope there are modules and APs that get published in this setting!

Shadowed Keep on the Borderlands 2.0 (P1)

One of the things that I really appreciate about Raging Swan is the ease of running their modules and adventures. The format of their books makes it very easy to keep track of the NPCs, who's doing what and to whom and the flow of the events is very easy to remember and to execute. It was no different with Shadowed Keep on the Borderlands. I highly recommend this for any GM who wants an adventure full of flavor and excitement.

I personally have trouble coming up with villains who have a wide array of capabilities and tricks up their sleeve, along with interesting motivations to power their schemes. This book really makes this a lot more easy for me. I wish I'd picked it up earlier. Thanks, Raging Swan for another great work.
