Cover template - Blue Leather (landscape image) - RPG Stock Art
Publisher: Dean Spencer Art
by A customer [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 07/06/2018 08:11:04

I found this to be a very useful and easy-to use product. Like most cover templates, it includes a front and back. In this case, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it also includes a spine template. For me, this means that I can easily make a title to slip into a notebook binder.

This product has only one drawback, and that is the license. It is a little restrictive for a product that I think many would want to tweak. However, this drawback is easily ignored if you are primarily interested in using the template for personal use only. I believe that the license is a result of an extremely busy artist just using the same license from his artwork for the template.

I have found Dean Spencer to be very willing to work with me in the past. I strongly suspect that if someone wanted to make an exception to the written license, they would just need to ask.

Thanks for the great review, and you are right about the license in that I used the same one that I use for artwork. If you have any suggestion on how to change it to make it more reasonable for a template then please let me know and I'll see I I can tweak it.

Champions of Ruin (3.5)
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast

I gave this book an average rating because it did not meet my requirements, nor did it meet the claims on the back cover (or the sales blurb on this site).

Don't get me wrong. This is an excellent product. It is well put together, and the topics in the book are complete as presented. The artwork is very nice.

The races, feats, and spells are pretty well done and accomplish their most important objective--adding flavor to the bad guys. There are a number of NPCs and organizations covered in detail.

Unfortunately, I had purchased Lords of Darkness a few years ago and I liked the guidance it gave on creating an organization. I purchased this book almost exclusively because it stated quite plainly: "Within these pages, you will discover everything players and Dungeon Masters need to create the most evil organizations..." I expected to see an expansion on the guidance from Lords of Darkness covering how to develop original organizations. The topic is not covered anywhere in the book. (The organizations provided are great examples, but a chapter detailing how to develop the organization itself was what I was after).

I am not unhappy with the quality of the material. I am disappointed that I will get only limited use from this book.

Everyone Else: A Book of Innkeepers, Farmers & More
Publisher: EN Publishing
by Cecil S. [Verified Purchaser]
Date Added: 08/15/2003 00:00:00

Everyone Else is a GM's tool. EN Publishing has provided statistics for over 80 NPC professions, breaking down characters by stat and skill level. Yes, any GM can do the same, but it's already been done for you--in a format that can be copied and pasted into your own write-ups. Well worth the money!

GM Mastery: NPC Essentials
Publisher: Roleplaying Tips Publishing

NPC Essentials is a GM's tutorial. It promises to aid the GM in developing NPCs that will breathe life into the campaign, and it fulfills this promise rather well. While it has some drawbacks, I have never seen better coverage of this topic from a single source.

Arcane Publisher's Edition 1
Publisher: V Shane
by Cecil S. [Verified Purchaser]

The bottom line up front: this is a superb product that is well worth the price paid! There is a nice mix of artwork that can easily be incorporated into a variety of products.

There are four character sketches and a number of items that obviously come from different cultural groups (including racial items such as elvish and dwarvish creations). The only thing missing are some critters and action scenes--but I am more likely to commission such material anyway.

Many of the pieces can be used as filler material--to fill that white space and add a bit of character to the page. But don't be deceived--the artwork is of sufficient quality that it can certainly stand on it's own as well. The challenge will be ensuring that the other artwork in the product meets the same high standards.

Easily one of the top three values I have purchased in the past year!
