I picked up a copy of this when it first came out, but didn't get a chance to play it until this weekend. Needless to say, much like the other works by this author, Last Night On Earth proved to be loads of fun for our gaming group. This particular scenario was a bit shorter than Credemore or the Super Hero one, but it still has a lot going for it.
Here are the things we enjoyed about it:
-
The story is solid. It really plays out like a fun movie (or even a goofier version of an episode of X-Files). You get a good intro, some wonky stuff happens and boom, you're thrown into the fray. More stuff happens and you get to solve the mystery, makes for a nice stand-alone game.
-
Once again, providing cyphers and partially pre-generated characters makes the start-up super simple. We had 2 new gamers to our group and it didn't take the entire session just to explain the system.
- The threat is real, and the clock is ticking down, there are zombies coming out of the walls and you never know if the shadow is a survivor or a monster - which we loved!
All in all, a really fun session! We would have loved for it to last longer or have more options for different buildings to explore, or additional side events to happen, but that's what makes it good, right? Always leave them wanting more!
